He slides from the tree canopy down from leaf to leaf and branch to branch, joining with other raindrops until he falls to the ground beneath the tree forming a puddle of water.

Ihorangi collects the moisture and forms the clouds above the forests. Warm air currents below make the water-logged air gather together, forming heavy rain clouds. One by one drops of rain, the tears of the sky, begin to fall to the land below

Millions of years ago Papatuanuku and Ranginui were divided by their children so that there could be light in the world and we could live. They were so sad to be separated, that Papatuanuku sent mist to cover herself and Ranginui cried tears of rain.
