Dahlia pendant

Do you love the rich pink purple tones in those deep magenta dahlias? I do! And these lively rhodolite garnets are just the right colours.

I have hand carved the flower out of jewellers wax then had a mould made of the wax so I can get more than one of these delicate designs cast in the lost wax method of casting.

I have set tiny natural rhodolite garnets for the petals and tiny green peridots for the centre.
To set the gems, I drill and burr the holes for the garnets and peridots to go. Once they are all seated, it's time to start moving the metal onto the gems to hold them in. This has to be done very carefully, so as to not go too far and then chop off and lose the metal that is to hold the gems in place. I then engrave a tidy line around the edge

The flower measures 15mm wide and tall, and just over 3mm deep.
This pendant comes with a 50cm sterling silver chain.
