Ernest Mervyn Taylor (1906 - 1964) – known as E. Mervyn Taylor – was an important printmaker. Working mainly on woodblock, he produced 200 editions—many used as illustrations in the school journal. He is reputedly the first artist to ever hold a solo exhibition in New York when his prints were exhibited at the American Museum of Natural History in 1954. From the collection of Te Papa Museum.
