These Capped Ferrite Disc magnets are an inexpensive alternative to Rare Earth Pot magnets. Similarly, the metal cap protects the underlying brittle Ferrite material from cracking or chipping, while also deflecting some of the magnetic force to the uncapped side and compounding the magnetic field. As a result, the cap or casing increases the strength of the magnet. It also provides a clean surface when attaching the disc permanently to another surface with glue.
