If using a heat-emitting bulb then a reflector is essential.
Using a reflector will trap the warmth and reflect it downwards making it much cozier for the chicks beneath it. The alloy reflector offers a sense of protection for the chicks and will reduce unnecessary heat loss. We do not recommend using a heat emitter in a lamp holder without a reflector, as the heat will rise - remember hot air rises!
