Applied Anatomy and Physiology (Micro-credential) (Level 5)
The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide the health sector and complementary
therapy industry with people who have specialised knowledge in Anatomy and Physiology in the context of health and wellbeing for support and care.
The target market for this micro-credential is students, domestic or international
(offshore ), who:
1. have experience with natural healthcare support in the New Zealand health sector or related experience, or
2. are wishing to progress to other health, massage, and complementary therapy qualifications, or
3. are planning to pursue a healthcare career. Content

Graduates of this micro-credential will be able to:
LO 1: Analyse the gross and microscopic anatomy of selected human body systems.
LO 2: Explain the physiology of selected human body systems.
LO 3: Analyse homeostatic principles and processes of selected human body

Prior study in Anatomy and Physiology is preferred; however, applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. To undertake this programme, which is taught and assessed in English, all learners must have English language competence in both written and spoken form. Delivery
The Applied Anatomy and Physiology (Level 5) (Micro-credential) will be delivered synchronously (on-campus or online via Zoom), recorded for asynchronous viewing, and uploaded onto the learning platform Coassemble. This Learner Management System provides all the course material for the learner to study remotely on any device they choose, such as a laptop, PC, Phone, iPad, or other smart device. The AromaScience Training facilitator (tutor) will monitor the student's progress through the 'view learner results' and 'time spent' on each topic within the modules through the student learning platform Coassemble. Delivery methods include, but are not limited to:
Research - Individual tasks for critical and reflective thinking
Video tutorials available anytime within Coassemble (asynchronous learning)
On-line learning support portal via Coassemble
Independent, self-directed learning activities/study.
Self-paced online via assignments, tasks, and quizzes (asynchronously learning)
Web-based links to resources via Coassemble.

Supervised tuition (synchronous learning).
Oral interview with the assessor via Microsoft Teams or in person. This conversation is used to verify the authenticity of the written assessment and ensure the learner understands the material they have submitted to date.
The total learning hours are 400 hours broken into:
200 hours of self-directed learning, including activities and assessments on the learning platform Coassemble. This student learning resource has in-class tutorials that can be accessed anytime.
200 hours of supervised tutorials, which also include tutorials. Assessment Methods
Achievement based.
At the end of each Anatomy and Physiology unit, the learner will complete a case study analysis and write an assessment report on each topic.
This assessment process is repeated throughout the fourteen units.
