Flower Pounamu Wheke Octopus Pendant with 9K Gold Diamond Bail

Carved from Flower pounamu by Yuki Tanaka, from Sands Carving Studio. A one-off Wheke worked into the endless round of a Porowhita, its arms curling with the curve of the circle.

In Māori culture the wheke is admired for its intelligence and adaptability, its eight arms reaching in every direction - a symbol of connection, and of holding things together. The Porowhita circle is worn for life's continuous cycle, a lifelong journey of self-discovery and renewal, embodying mauri (life force), inner harmony and our connection to nature.

The bail is a solid 9 karat gold oval set with an encrustment of 0.04 carats of diamonds, made here in Arrowtown by goldsmith Andy Mills. Finished on a 9k medium-weight gold-plated curb chain and presented in an eco-friendly box.
