Pounamu Kahurangi Hei Matau Koru Sculpture

Carved in our Arrowtown workshop from Kahurangi pounamu, this Hei Matua sculpture reveals rich shades of green patterned with creamy, blossom-like inclusions unique to the stone. Its smooth, flowing curves are completed by a delicate koru - a signature of our master carver Lee-roy Mullings.

Resting on a driftwood base, the fishhook shape (Hei Matua) speaks to safe passage across water and enduring ties to te moana. It is a symbol of resilience, strength, and the unbroken connection between past and future - a taonga that carries meaning for life’s significant milestones.
