This design combines the Pikorua twist and the Koru. The Pikorua reflects the entwined pikopiko ferns of Aotearoa's forests, worn for unity and strength, unbreakable bonds, friendship and whānau, here in its triple form for the fullest, most elaborate expression of those ties. The Koru's unfurling frond brings growth, harmony and new beginnings, pairing enduring connection with a fresh start.
