2023 No Devices

100% petit manseng from the magnificent Churton vineyard

This wine is as rare as hen's teeth. There is currently only 1ha of petit manseng planted in Aotearoa New Zealand and Churton vineyard have 60% of it, so we were absolutely over the moon when the Weaver family offered us the chance to work with this wonderful grape here in

Petit manseng when kept as a single variety is typically made into off-dry and sweet wines- but we've made a bone dry version

We gave the grapes a light foot-crush and soak for 48 hours to gently drop acidity and aid fermentation, with the pressed juice then fermented and aged for 12 months in glass demi jeanne, including 1/3 being left untopped- 20% of blend- (forming a light veil or fleurette and developing a mild rancio character)

No Devices is amber in the glass and tastes like a dry dessert wine with toffee, caramel, fine tea and mandarin peel notes and an elegant walnut finish. You'll find concentration and intensity but with surprisngly effortless drinkability

It's fresh and zesty enough to drink without food but choose to pair it with jamon, olives, sardines, marinaded almonds, tapas or other tasty snacks for the full experience.
