Ko te kopae pounamu he taonga e whakanui ana i te ‘huringa o te āo’.

A pounamu disc pendant (or earrings) represents the circle of life. This design is about balance, symmetry and the continual evolution of all things. Whilst this design is not exclusively Māori (many cultures around the world celebrate the circle/disc design so it is a universal form) for us as Māori it is one of our most balanced and ‘self-contained’ taonga. Being a relatively contemporary design within Māori jewellery, it also carries less of the cultural kōrero that our other designs carry and because of this is a good taonga for modern funky people, Māori and Pākehā alike.
