NZ daphne

A prostrate evergreen ground cover. The small narrow leaves are a blue green colour. Fragrant tiny white scented flowers smother the plants from spring to autumn. A very tough plant handling a variety of soil types in full sun to light shade. 10 cm x 1 meter. Host plant for several endemic moth species.

Pimelea genus contains about 150 species of which 110 are in Australia and 36 in New Zealand. Plants in the Pimelea genus are either herbs or small shrubs.

The Pimelea species have particular ecological significance as host plants for the caterpillars of several endemic moth species such as Notoreas spp. and three of our Owlet moths– Meterana spp.
