It was intended only to be consumed by the abbey monks or at the nearby inn Auberge de Poteaupre, which is associated with the abbey. Chimay Goud is now widely available to consumers and can is enjoyable as as a refreshing dessert beer, because it is lower in alcohol content than the rest of the Chimay family ales
