The local name for kava bowl is Tanoa. Our tanoa is made in Fiji from a native hardwood known as Vesi (Intsia bijuga). This wood is best known for making handicrafts. Large bowls are used for drinking Kava (Yagona), whereas small bowls are suitable gift ideas for occasions such as Birthdays, Weddings,.
Tanoa is a traditional carved wooden bowl made in different sizes and designs. The ʻava ceremony is one of the most important customs of the Samoa Islands. It is a solemn ritual in which a ceremonial beverage is shared to mark important occasions in Samoan society. These bowls are used for the preparation and serving of Kava, the ground roots of plant (Piper Methysticum). It can also be used for other ceremonial purposes.
