The Karate Monkey is Surly’s do-everything, go-anywhere, dirt-hungry steel hardtail. Whether you're chasing singletrack, strapping on frame bags for a bikepacking mission, or mixing both on one ride, the Karate Monkey keeps it rowdy, comfortable, and endlessly adaptable.

Built around Surly’s legendary steel frame with Gnot-Boost spacing, it plays nice with 142mm or 148mm rear hubs, supports dropper posts, and fits a suspension fork if you want to get wild up front. Designed for 29" or 27.5 wheels, this frame has clearance for 29 x 2.5" or 27.5 x 3" tyres, meaning you can tailor it for trail riding, touring, or just smashing over everything in your way.

It’s the bike for riders who want a trail bike, a pack mule, and a singletrack weapon—all in one steel chassis.
