GUILT Landscapes - Jessica Gaudie The Guilt Podcast

From The Artist:In this first landscape, 'Settling Light,' I wanted to pay tribute to the landscapes of the Hinterland in particular the rural countryside around Booloumba Creek Road, Conondale, and Kennilworth. In the podcast we learn how Jessica loved music, and this unfulfilled passion, cut short by tragedy, struck me as particularly poignant. This love of music was an element I was keen to represent in this painting. There are other aspects of the case I wanted to symbolise that the keen-eyed may be able to spot – but apart from one or two elements, I have been careful to avoid anything overt. The pictures in this series are intended to be faithful to the real landscapes, and I want them to show the way that the places we inhabit can be both welcoming and foreign, and how any given landscape conceals as much as it reveals.
