Prewash before sewing just in case there is any shrinkage in the cotton.

We have a great family portrait from the 90's where everyone is wearing a denim shirt, and to make a denim shirt, you need Chambray.

Looks like denim but is a nice, soft shirt weight perfect for recreating that denim shirt you loved so much.

Check out McCalls pattern M6044 for a super simple shirt pattern including a western style variation with a yoke at the shoulders front/back. This is now my go-to pattern for Hawaiian shirts.
