Yellow Candy Hogfish

The , also known as the Twospot Slender Hogfish or simply Yellow Hogfish, is a vibrant, bright yellow fish adorned with subtle red horizontal stripes and two distinct black spots—one behind the eye and another near the tail.

It thrives in aquariums of 30 gallons or larger, ideally with plenty of rockwork and hiding spaces. This species is generally peaceful and adapts well to captive environments. If you plan to keep more than one, it’s best to introduce them at the same time, as they can be mildly territorial toward their own kind. While typically reef-safe, mature specimens may occasionally show interest in small ornamental shrimp, particularly if those shrimp are added after the hogfish is well-established.

A protein-rich diet is essential, with preferred foods including mysis shrimp, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, and high-quality marine flake foods.
