Proper Pink Gin (That Boutique-y Gin Company) 50ml Miniature

Back in the day, pink gin used to be a tipple concocted using gin and Angostura Bitters. At some point, variations on pink gin started to pop up, many of them based around the addition of berries, imparting heavy sweetness as well as the eponymous pink hue. That Boutique-y Gin Company is kicking it old school with Proper Pink Gin, blending terrific gin and Angostura Bitters to create the classic tipple. The label features a leading expert (he even has a badge that says it, so it has to be true), aptly blowing a raspberry. They've even made a little video advising you on what a pink gin should be (see below). Nose

Through the sweetness of fresh orange there’s gingerbread, sugared almonds and marzipan. Coriander seeds and oily juniper emerge with time. Palate

Grassy mint kicks things off, supported by caster sugar and a spicy blend of juniper and cardamom. Finish

A touch of black pepper fizzles through the lingering liquorice notes.
