Rose cut originated in 1500's and was commonly used through the Georgian and Victorian eras. Rose cut the name refers to not the overall shape of the stone it is the unique combination of a flat back stone with facets all over the top of the gem to create an almost pointy dome. which creates a unique sparkle unlike any other gem cut.
