Matsu Bronze & Black Clay Candle // Maido

Handmade in Seto, Japan, a region with over a thousand years of ceramic tradition. Each vessel is crafted by a family-run kiln using locally sourced black clay. The iron-rich material produces a deep, almost metallic glaze, giving the surface quiet depth and texture. Every form is shaped with care and intended for use long after the candle has burned.

The candle is hand-poured in Provider Store’s Sydney studio using pure soy wax and natural fragrance oils. Maido is a grounding, calming scent designed to soften the edges of the day. Warm, earthy notes of incense, amber, guaiac wood, and cedar create a smoky, woody blend that brings ease to any space.

After around 40 hours of burn time, the vessel can be repurposed. Remove the wick, wash with hot soapy water, and reuse as a tea or coffee cup. Free from parabens, paraffin and palm oil. A simple, functional object made to be enjoyed daily and kept for years to come.
