Japanese Bud Vase // Kinegata
From the city of Asahikawa in Hokkaido comes akarino-tane’s tiny wooden flower vase series, CHIISAKI-HANAIRE, a quiet celebration of nature’s small moments. Designed by Inoue Hiroyuki, each piece takes its shape from a classical Japanese vase form:
Kinegata, shaped like a small mallet, this form has a balanced, grounded presence. Its gentle proportions make it a calm companion for a single stem or a sprig gathered from the garden.
In the Japanese tradition of flower arrangement, the beauty of the season’s flowers is revealed through their pairing with a carefully chosen vessel. These miniature vases invite that same practice into everyday life, allowing even a single hand-picked wildflower to transform a space.
These vases are not waterproof and are intended for either dry arrangements, or for finding beauty in the evanescence of flowers as they wither and die, a quiet reflection of nature’s passing moments. For longer-lasting displays, branches bearing berries or nuts make a simple, enduring alternative.
