The New Eves – The New Eve Is Rising (Vinyl)

The debut full-length release from British quartet The New Eves was co-produced with Joe Jones and Jack Ogborne. That The New Eves are overflowing with ideas is obvious from their interviews and their debut album The New Eve Is Rising.
Their LP presents them in rough hewn and occasionally chaotic style, and with a backwards nod to early 80's UK post-punk female bands such as the Slits and the Raincoats, it feels exciting, as does their future.
From rich biblical imagery and warped pastoral scenes (‘Cow Song’) to screeching, string-led tension (‘Highway Man’) and howling invocations (‘Circles’; ‘Mary’), its nine tracks somehow encode a considerable might without ever feeling heavy.
