New Zealand's First Red Corn Whisky Herrick Creek Heritage Series - 52% New Zealand Bloody Butcher Corn, 48% Canterbury Malted Barley
Aged in a new European oak barrel & small new American oak barrels Grown in Clarkville in 2021/22
For this whisky, we had to find seed years beforehand and spent a couple of years propagating seed at home. When we finally planted a field of it, everything was done by hand. Each seed was poked into the ground by the owner/distiller, Tom, on hands & knees. Each cob was hand harvested and air dried before being kerneled by hand as well.
This is a whisky labour of love. It's a pure expression of the Waimakariri area it was grown in, and it's a one-off.
