Russian Comfrey crown

This plant have been grown organically at KoruKai Herb Farm, Banks Peninsula. Free from synthetic fertiliser, pesticides and herbicides.

You will receive one dormant comfrey crown similar to one in the image below.

Growing Conditions

Comfrey is highly adaptable and will grow well in a wide range of conditions. It performs best in moist, well-drained, fertile soil but will also tolerate partial shade and full sun. Once established, it is extremely vigorous and difficult to remove due to its deep and resilient root system. While it does not spread by seed, even small root fragments left in the soil can regenerate, making placement an important consideration.
Rather than relocating beds every few years, we continually build fertility in place by adding compost and organic matter to support ongoing harvests.

Comfrey is a valuable addition to food forest systems, where it serves both medicinal and ecological roles, including compost enrichment and animal fodder.
