Fresh Hawthorn Berries

Our fresh Hawthorn berries ( Crataegus spp.) are lovingly hand-harvested at KoruKai Herb Farm at the height of the season, when the berries are fully ripe and at their best. Each batch is carefully sorted by hand so that only good-quality, ripe berries make it into your pack.

Hawthorn has a long history of traditional use, both as a food and as a valued herbal plant. The bright red berries have a naturally tart, slightly sweet flavour and can be used in a variety of traditional recipes and homemade preparations.
From the kitchen to the home apothecary

Fresh hawthorn berries are wonderfully versatile. They can be cooked and used to make jams, jellies, syrups, sauces, cordials and preserves, or added to other seasonal fruit preparations.
They are also traditionally used to make herbal preparations such as tinctures, decoctions and syrups. Hawthorn has traditionally been valued particularly for its association with heart and circulatory wellbeing.
