Going, Going… Gog

Just over a hundred remain of these precious birds, they are teetering on the brink of of extinction. They feed on the waterline but breed high up in the harsh environment of the slopes of Gog Peak and other mountain ranges in Rakiura. Their efforts to thrive are thwarted by feral cats that have spread across the land and plunder the dotterel nests and predate the adults birds. DOC have a special programme operating to help these beautiful birds and need our help to keep going.
