Nuzzling the coastline, we dip in and out of small coves and crannies, where white sand glistens in sparkling water and lush dense forests, underpinned with crown ferns, rise straight from the shore. The clattering call of a kākāriki and a flash of colour announces its arrival in a southern ‘sub-tropical’ scene.
