'Ngā Mihi' Māori-Inspired Lowercase Font

‘Ngā Mihi’ is a lowercase typeface inspired by common Māori motifs appearing in traditional art and designs, in particular the art of whakairo (carving). A strong figure-ground relationship between the individual letterforms creates a bold, intriguing, and culturally stylistic font that will bring a unique flavour to your project.

Designed by Aroha Tamihana, as part of a student project in 2011 that sparked her passion for typography.

This typeface is best showcased as a display font, and is perfect for applications across cultural, design, fashion, art, and branding projects.

Enjoy using one of the few Māori inspired typefaces available to the public.

When using this font to promote or represent Māori culture and language, please ensure your project adheres to tikanga Māori and respects its traditions to avoid tokenistic portrayals. Features
