Karure (Black Robin) Pair

The karure, or black robin, is one of New Zealand’s greatest conservation comeback stories.

At its lowest point, there were just five birds left in the world. Only one fertile female remained: Old Blue. Together with her mate, Old Yellow, they became the foundation of an extraordinary recovery effort that helped bring the species back from the brink. That story is why we created the Karure Pair. Two adult black robins together, as a nod to Old Blue, Old Yellow and one very impressive comeback. And this one gives back too.

30% of profits from every Karure Pair goes directly to Forest & Bird, supporting their work protecting native species like the karure and the wild places they call home.
