An elegantly written novel about a family of five setting out on their annual seaside holiday, it is an uplifting, life-affirming read that spotlights the dignity in everyday life, and I highly recommend it. As the characters in the book illustrate, a holiday allows us time to reflect on our successes and disappointments and return to our everyday lives refreshed. It gives us the courage to try something new without consequences, and to resolve to make a fresh start.
