This image tells a story that belongs to many standing on the edge of adolescence and womanhood — a time of vulnerability, self-doubt, and fractured self-perception. Where the world sees beauty, kindness, and strength, the individual often sees only flaws.

Each square represents the pieces of ourselves we pick apart: the features we criticise, the details we call imperfect. Yet when viewed together, they form something far greater — a portrait of resilience, tenderness, and power.

This artwork invites you to look closer at what is labelled as imperfection, and instead discover the quiet truth: beauty lives within vulnerability, and strength is found in the act of becoming.

Awarded a perfect score of 100 at the Iris Professional Photography Awards, this piece formed part of my Professional Photographer of the Year portfolio, helped earn the title of Professional Portrait Creative Photographer of the Year, and was named the Highest Scoring Entry of 2025.
