Star anise has a warm, earthy aniseed or liquorice flavour, and is commonly used in Chinese cuisine. Use as a food seasoning or to add flavour to soups, veges, meats and stews. Add early in cooking and remove before serving. Adds a wonderful flavour and aroma to mulled wine.
