Verdite is a unique and ancient metamorphic rock, primarily composed of fuchsite (a chromium-rich variety of muscovite mica), which gives it its characteristic and often vibrant green color. Found predominantly in Southern Africa, particularly Zimbabwe and South Africa, verdite's hues can range from light to deep green, often displaying beautiful swirls, spots, or mottled patterns that may include yellow, brown, red, or even blue. Due to its relatively soft nature (Mohs hardness of 3-4), verdite is highly prized for carving intricate sculptures, ornamental objects, and cabochons, embodying a strong connection to ancestral wisdom and the earth's ancient energies.
