Te Manako Nui
The body of this design is inspired mainly by the poutama pattern, but also carries influences of both waewae pākura and taki patterns. The poutama reflects our goals and dreams that we aspire to, with hope casting light upon our pathway, illuminating each step, as we realise its truth and stand upon it.
Within the centre of this design, hinatore is reflective of hope and woven in the style of tāniko (traditional hand embroidery), piercing through the darkness.
This blanket is woven in our heavy style with a thicker yarn using 100% New Zealand Lambswool, resulting in a larger & more robust blanket. There are six different weave structures used to embellish this design, with a reversible contrasting colour palette. Te Ata Hāpara collection features our classic blanket stitch edging. The yarn colours used are Kura Red, Tūhua Black, Blue Violet and Silk.
