Nicolas Dillon

1966 –

Nicolas Dillon is one of New Zealand’s leading wildlife artists. Born in Blenheim he began drawing at an early age on the family farm. His fascination was largely with birds and this has continued throughout his career. Hours spent watching in the field and sketching in pencil and watercolour has become unusual for contemporary artists. Perhaps it is through this process that he has built such a strong connection with his subjects that makes his work quite unique.

His book ‘Drawn to be Wild’ is an illustrated story of his journey as an artist.
