John McIntosh Madden

1856 -1923

Yorkshire born John Madden went on to study at the South Kensington School of Art. He immigrated to New Zealand in 1877 settling in Christchurch. McIntosh Madden taught at Christ’s College from 1895 – 1920. He largely painted New Zealand landscapes.
