Watching Kapiti

“I was born in the Wairarapa and grew up looking at the land and have never stopped.

The first four years of my life were spent in a tiny rural settlement deep in the hills east of Masterton. I still retain a conscious memory of those first earliest years which continue to inform my perception now.

The process of my work is for me like a visual diary hence my paintings are often in sequential series. The use of both oil and acrylic paints offering me differing qualities which I enjoy applying to different subjects.

I commenced painting full-time in 1990 and since then have exhibited on a regular basis at leading galleries throughout New Zealand. My work is held in various public collections including the Parliamentary Collection, Waikato Museum of Art & History, the Auckland University of Technology along with inclusion in numerous private and corporate collections throughout New Zealand and overseas.

I am passionately and spiritually connected to Aotearoa New Zealand and our unique natural environment which forms the basis of my focus as a painter of the land."
