- Traditional Totoweka Pounamu Manaia Pendant

Hand carved for us by Donna Summers, made from New Zealand Totoweka jade. What defines this piece are the darker inclusions and the hint of red in the stone. features that give this type of jade its uniquely recognisable appeal.

a manaia design. These are considered guardians and were traditionally worn to honour and remember ancestors. To draw strength and wisdom from your ancestors for the challenges you may face in the future. This piece is well worthy of that role. The tail of the Manaia culminates into a hook design - representing abundance and adventure.

Take a moment to watch the short video we have made which shows the pendant slowly rotating. This will give you a very clear picture of the shape nuances and the colour of the stone - it's well worth the few moments it will take you to watch it.

The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.

The hook: the wearer of a Hei-Matau is seen as a provider and protector who is strong willed and determined to succeed in life - what a lovely sentiment to gift to someone important to you.

This pendant will be delivered to you with Express Courier on an adjustable cord. We will also include our 'Kia Ora' card, which explains the meaning behind the Manaia and Hook design.
