CORNICELLO
“Tuosto, stuorto e cu a’ punta" - tough and twisted at the tip
Originally carved by artisans in Naples Italy, this horn-shaped pendant was, and still is by many, believed to offer protection from the evil eye, to ward off bad luck. It is also believed by many to promote fertility and virility.
There are many stories about where this shape originated, and its symbolism, ranging from roots in Italy as well as Greek and Roman mythology. One legend has it becoming a symbol of fertility and the earth after Zeus broke a horn from a goat.
We have carved these from Black Jade - a deep black colour with lighter inclusions in the stone. This is a natural structure that forms with the stone where minerals are wrapped into the jade during its formation.
We love the shape and we love its history - is handcarved in black jade from Australia. It is a beautiful piece with movement and form and looks absolutely stunning in this deep black, and highly polished jade.
This is the perfect pendant to gift someone close to you, someone facing a challenge to give them strength and comfort - this is a positive pendant!
