ONI NI KANABO
- Spiky Bat - art made to wear and display.
Japanese proverb says "Oni ni Kanabo" that means "Almighty". If you let Oni have a Metal Bat (Spiked Club), he will be strongest, Almighty.
A magnificent carving, hand crafted from a character-filled piece of Deer antler crown. This figure is perched in a natural crown of antler, holding a spiked bat behind his bat - he's ready for anything.
This piece is carved in netsuke style but with an added cord so that it can be worn. It is beautifully designed and carved - a testament to the artistry of one of New Zealand's finest bone carvers - Fumio Noguchi.
