ICE STORM
- New Zealand Jade Toki Pendant
hand carved from a lovely piece of New Zealand Pounamu. This particular stone is sometimes called 'snowflake' pounamu because of the white inclusions through the stone. It is certainly a very striking piece with lots of character and visual appeal.
The cord is typical of the beautiful finishing touch and attention to detail that Jen puts into all her work - a three coloured cord and two-tone binding complement the stone perfectly. This is the pendant for you if you'd love a standout piece of handmade jewellery.
Take a moment to view the photos and video to appreciate this carving in all its colourful beauty!
WHY YOU WOULD WEAR A TOKI.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
