- Scientific Name: Ambystoma mexicanum
- Adult Size: Up to 25 cm (10 inches)
- Diet: Carnivore – loves earthworms, axolotl pellets, white worms and bloodworms as a treat
- Temperament: Solitary but peaceful – best housed alone or with other axolotls of similar size
- Tank Size: Minimum 75 liters per axolotl
- Water Conditions:


- Temperature: 16–20°C (60–68°F) – no heaters!
- pH: 6.5 – 8.0
- Tank Setup: Soft sand or bare-bottom, plenty of hides, gentle filtration – no sharp decorations

- Cool Temps Only – Heat stress can lead to illness or shortened lifespan
