2021, Mazzei 'Philip', TOSCANA IGT

The 2021 Philip, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, is a fine effort from the Mazzei family. Dried herbs, lavender, sage, mint and liquorice play off a core of blue and purplish fruit. There's plenty to like— that’s for sure—but at the same time, the Cabernet suffers in comparison to Mazzei's superb set of Sangiovese-based wines. 92 Antonio Galloni, Vinous (2024).
