2023, Domaine Henri Boillot, BÂTARD-MONTRACHET, Grand Cru

Fullish yellow, beautifully rich, quite oaky. Quite an opulent fruit salad style of nose behind, blows the oak off in no time at all. Pretty weighty, quite muscular, good acidity, the feeling that you are barely seeing what is underneath. Possibly not the same degree of finesse as the Clos de la Mouchère, though. 93-95 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy.

The 2023 Btard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a surprisingly delicate wine. Airy and understated, Boillot's 2023 Batard whispers more than it screams. Delicate floral notes meld into a core of orchard fruit. This is a very pretty wine, but I find it a bit atypical in its restraint for both Btard and the generally richer style that is such a signature at this address. 92-94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.
