Cured Rehmania Root has gone through a curing process, mulled in wine, creating a sweet extract with slightly warming properties.
It is thought to be antipyretic and haemostatic, and removes latent heat from the blood. It is used in skin rashes, diabetes, low-grade fevers and bleeding. It also regulates menstruation and promotes blood production and is used for anaemia, dizziness, weakness, tinnitus and amenorrhoea and metrorrhagia (similar to polygonum).
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) cured rehmania root works in the heart, kidney, and liver channels, and is said to tonify the blood and nourish the yin. This is needed when there is deficient blood with symptoms of dizziness, light-headedness, palpitations, and insomnia, so acts as a building and warming tonic for weak and poor energy conditions.
