Beth's poppy. Normally this species is orange. This is Beth's selection. (Chatto I assume, but Beth's website says she knows nothing about it except that she likes to use it). Seed from Great Dixter. Hardy annual with striking red flowers with a black blotch at base.Sp fl. With nice seed heads. Can self sow. Sun, moist and well drained preferred. I have nabbed their pictures. What a place, the meadows. Just remember poppies need disturbed or open soil to germinate, they are not part of a mature meadow, so best to collect some seed. I have my poppies in various (isolated) sand beds so I can dig up and pot on little plants. These are new ones. Avoid root disturbance as much as possible with poppies.
