Arctium lappa | Burdock

Also known as greater burdock, edible burdock, or lappa.

This biennial plant can grow as high as 3 metres in the right conditions. In the first year you'll see the leaves bulking out, and then the second year the stem grows and flowers.

Foliage is green, with round, thistle like burrs topped with purple flowers.

This plant is great in the cottage garden, medicinal garden, for cut flowers (for the brave florist) and for beneficial insects.

Best in full sun with free draining soil.
