Digitalis hybrida | Polkadot Polly
This is a new variety of Foxglove is bred to have an exceptionally long flowering period. The plants are actually sterile, so it flowers for many weeks, beginning in late spring and into mid-summer.
Polka Dot Polly forms an attractive low rosette of dark green leaves, with tall stems that stand erect with spikes of well branched spikes with flowers crowding the stem. The flowers are an intriguing deep rose and apricot mix with a soft primrose yellow lip.
Given the longevity of the flowers, they are excellent candidates for the cutting garden. A very attractive variety that is a great choice for the middle to back of a sunny border and can even be used in a large pot.
Plants like a well-drained positioned in a sunny spot but will cope with afternoon shade.
