Penstemon hybrid | Sour Grapes | Beardtongue

Penstemon may be deciduous or evergreen perennials or subshrubs, with simple, narrow leaves and racemes or panicles of bell-shaped or funnel-shaped flowers in summer through to mid-autumn.
Penstemons are such good doers in the garden, providing so much colour for such a long season, with so many varieties to choose from. They also look fabulous planted 'en masse'!
Penstemon Sour Grapes has lovely rich purple flowers that have a pink edge on spikes that bees adore. These plants are semi evergreen, they'll stay green all year round but loose some foliage in winter. They are clump forming and grow to 50cm tall and 40 cm wide. They do especially well in a sunny border, but will tolerate some shade, especially in warmer climates. Trim back flower spikes as they go over to keep the plant in shape and enjoy!
